Breaking The One-Third Bit Error Rate Barrier Of Quantum Key Distribution
نویسنده
چکیده
To push up the error tolerance rate of quantum key distribution, I propose a prepare-and-measure quantum key distribution scheme using N -dimensional quantum particles as information carriers where N is a prime power. Remarkably, this prepare-and-measure scheme can distribute a provably secure key against all attacks allowed by the laws of quantum physics for at least one-third bit error rate whenever N is even and N ≥ 16. Since one-third bit error rate is the maximum limit for any qubit-based key distribution scheme to handle securely, the scheme reported here demonstrates the advantage of using high dimensional quantum particles as information carriers at high eavesdropping rate.

Proof of security of quantum key distribution with two-way classical communications
Shor and Preskill have provided a simple proof of security of the standard quantum key distribution scheme by Bennett and Brassard (BB84) by demonstrating a connection between key distribution and entanglement purification protocols with one-way communications. Here we provide proofs of security of standard quantum key distribution schemes, BB84 and the six-state scheme, against the most genera...
متن کاملBit Error Performance for Asynchronous Ds Cdma Systems Over Multipath Rayleigh Fading Channels (RESEARCH NOTE)
In recent years, there has been considerable interest in the use of CDMA in mobile communications. Bit error rate is one of the most important parameters in the evaluation of CDMA systems. In this paper, we develop a technique to find an accurate approximation to the probability of bit error for asynchronous direct–sequence code division multiple–access (DS/CDMA) systems by modeling the multipl...
متن کاملImproved Eavesdropping Detection in Quantum Key Distribution
Employing the fundamental laws of quantum physics, Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) promises the unconditionally secure distribution of cryptographic keys. However, in practical realisations, a QKD protocol is only secure, when the quantum bit error rate introduced by an eavesdropper unavoidably exceeds the system error rate. This condition guarantees that an eavesdropper cannot disguise his pres...
متن کاملSecurity proof of a three-state quantum key distribution protocol without rotational symmetry
Standard security proofs of quantum key distribution (QKD) protocols often rely on symmetry arguments. In this paper, we prove the security of a three-state protocol that does not possess rotational symmetry. The three-state QKD protocol we consider involves three qubit states, where the first two states, |0z〉 and |1z〉, can contribute to key generation and the third state, |+〉 = (|0z〉 + |1z〉)/ ...
متن کاملQuantum Bit Error Rates in Quantum Key Distribution Using Entangled Photons
Quantum key distribution, often known as quantum cryptography, is a proposed practical application of quantum mechanics, based on the uncertainty principle. A cryptographic key is transmitted by encoding it in the quantum state of a series of photons, the receiver measuring each photon in one of several bases selected at random. Only those measurements made in a basis compatible with the prepar...
